도심 터미널(City Terminal): 공항 여객 터미널에서 수행하는 탑승수속, 수하물 위탁 등의 서비스를 제공하는 별도의 도심 시설

개요

도심공항터미널(City Airport Terminal)로도 불리는 것으로 공항에서 이루어지는 탑승수속, 수하물 위탁 등을 시내에서도 할 수 있도록 만든 터미널로 서울에는 삼성동과 서울역에 각각 위치하고 있다.

공항과는 달리 탑승수속 후 공항까지 이동하는데 시간을 필요로 하기 때문에 보통 국제선 탑승수속은 항공기 출발 3시간(국내선은 2시간) 전에 마감한다.

도심 터미널 장점

공항과는 달리 이용객이 많지 않기 때문에 줄을 서서 기다려야 하는 경우가 많지 않으며 비교적 이른 시각에 수속을 할 수 있기 때문에 다른 이용객들보다 먼저 수속해 원하는 좌석을 비교적 손쉽게 받을 수 있다.

코로나 사태와 운영 중단

2020년초 전 세계로 확산된 코로나19 사태로 항공편 운항이 급감하면서 3월 잠정 운영 중단에 들어갔다. 코로나19 사태가 진정되고 항공교통이 정상화되면서 2023년 4월 기준 서울역 도심공항터미널에는 대한항공, 아시아나항공, 제주항공, 티웨이항공, 에어서울, 에어부산 등 6개 항공사가 탑승수속 업무를 재개했다.
